The meeting’s agenda includes discussions on cooperation among gas-exporting countries, global energy market developments, and strategies to strengthen the role of natural gas in the future global energy mix.
Participants will also address key organizational matters, such as the election of the forum’s next secretary-general and the agenda for the eighth GECF Heads of State and Government Summit, scheduled to be held in Moscow.
Iran’s Minister of Oil, Mohsen Paknejad, told SHANA earlier that Iran will present new initiatives aimed at enhancing the GECF’s international influence during the meeting.
The GECF’s member and observer countries collectively hold more than 70% of the world’s proven natural gas reserves. They account for 39% of global gas production, 40% of gas exports, and 51% of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports.
