Qatar says natural gas driving the global energy transition

SHANA (Doha) – Qatar’s Minister of Energy said natural gas has emerged as one of the main energy options in the global transition, as countries around the world seek cleaner energy sources. He emphasized that the role of gas in meeting energy demand and reducing emissions has become increasingly significant.

Speaking Thursday, at the 27th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Doha, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi highlighted the importance of natural gas in the global energy transition, calling it a reliable fuel that can help achieve clean air and environmental sustainability goals.

Al Kaabi said that with natural gas becoming one of the main choices in the energy transition, international cooperation and member support for gas development are essential. “The support of GECF member countries for the development of natural gas and international cooperation in this field is vital and can facilitate the path toward clean and sustainable energy,” he said.

The minister expressed his appreciation to the GECF secretary-general and president for organizing the meeting successfully. “I sincerely thank all those who contributed to the success of this meeting and wish the forum success in its future endeavors,” Al Kaabi added.
