Iran, Libya oil ministers discuss energy cooperation

SHANA (Doha) – Iran’s oil minister met with his Libyan counterpart to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in various energy sectors and leveraging shared capacities.

During a meeting on Wednesday, Mohsen Paknejad emphasized the importance of strengthening ties in energy fields while meeting with Khalifa Rajab Abdulsadiq, Libya’s minister of oil and gas and chair of the 27th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).

Referring to Iran’s recent discovery of new gas reserves, Paknejad called for broader technical collaboration and joint investment in gas, petrochemical and energy infrastructure projects.

Libya, a long-standing member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and a key member of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, holds a strategic and influential position in regional energy markets.

The 27th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum is set to be held Thursday, in Doha, Qatar, with the participation of ministers and senior officials from member states.
