Mousa Ahmadi, speaking on Sunday during a meeting between Energy Committee members and the oil minister, noted that since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, enemies have sought to undermine it through various means.
He stated, “Sanctions by the enemies of the revolution, particularly the US, are not new. Throughout the revolution, many ministers and officials have been sanctioned. The enemies believe such actions can achieve their goals, but this is a mistaken assumption.”
Ahmadi recalled that there were claims in the past that if oil companies like Shell and Total left Iran and halted investments, it would have significant consequences. However, he added, “The development of the oil industry never stopped after their departure.”
He stressed that the sanctioning of the oil minister is a clear disregard for international laws, sovereignty, and norms. Ahmadi pointed out that the oil minister currently holds the rotating presidency of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) for the year 2026, making the sanctions against him a blatant violation of international law and an act of bullying, as recently highlighted by the Leader.
Ahmadi stated that the Energy Committee and other representatives met with the oil minister to convey that these sanctions and hostile actions against the oil industry will not succeed. He added, “Parliament will provide political support to the oil minister. This move may bring blessings for us and embarrassment for Trump.”
He further noted that Trump’s sanctions on Iran’s Oil Minister reflect the minister’s success in political and diplomatic efforts. Ahmadi emphasized the need for increased energy diplomacy and assured that the committee has always supported the Oil Ministry and will continue to do so, as stated by the Parliament Speaker.
Sanctions create limitations, but opportunities too
Mohammad Bahrami Seifabad, a Parliament representative, highlighted the strong coordination between the Energy Committee and the oil minister, expressing hope for increased cooperation. He stated, “Sanctions create limitations, but they also present opportunities for the country. If the oil minister were not influential, he would not have been sanctioned by the enemy.”
Firm support for oil minister
Esmaeil Hosseini, another parliament representative, described the sanctions on the oil industry as a sign of its importance.
He stressed that the US sanctioning of the oil minister reflects his successes and assured that the Energy Committee firmly supports him to overcome challenges.
Commendable stance of oil minister post-sanctions
Gholamreza Dehqan-Naserabadi praised the Oil Minister’s revolutionary spirit and stance following the sanctions, stating that the minister has dedicated himself to the revolution and that his efforts are appreciated.
He called for anticipating challenges and addressing them, urging the Energy Committee to provide solutions to navigate the sanctions.
Oil at forefront of attacks, sanctions
Mostafa Nakhaei, another representative, noted that the sanctions on the oil minister demonstrate the effectiveness of his efforts.
He emphasized that not everything revolves around oil trade and highlighted opportunities such as the Turkmenistan-Turkey gas swap through Iran. He called for continued meetings between representatives and the oil minister.
Making most of sanctions
Mohammad-Tala Mazloumi stated that Iran has historically turned threats and sanctions into opportunities.
He praised the Oil Minister’s work, which led to the sanctions, and assured full support for him, adding, “Let America be angry and perish from its anger.”
Ready to support oil minister
Ka’ab Omair expressed readiness to support the oil minister in energy diplomacy, suggesting that the Energy Committee could facilitate negotiations and develop energy diplomacy and investment during challenging times.
Sanctions on oil minister contrary to international law
Mansour Shokrollahi condemned the sanctions as a crude act and a violation of international law, stating that they are a clear attempt by the enemy to harm Iran’s oil industry and hinder its development. He emphasized the unity between Parliament, the government, and the Oil Ministry, noting that the ministry’s successes have drawn the enemy’s attention.
He called for finding solutions to bypass sanctions while acknowledging that some self-sufficiency achievements would not have been possible without them.
Stay resolute
Fathollah Hosseini, head of the Parliament’s Martyrs and Veterans Caucus, stated that the enemy has recognized the Oil Minister’s capabilities, leading to the sanctions.
He urged the minister to remain steadfast, assuring him of eventual success.
