Energy Committee strongly supports oil minister after US sanctions

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the Energy Committee, along with its members, visited the Ministry of Oil to express the Iranian parliament’s strong support for the oil minister following the imposition of US sanctions.

On Sunday, the head and members of the Parliament’s Energy Committee, representing the legislative body, met with Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad and reaffirmed the Parliament’s firm backing of the minister’s performance.

The Parliament members referenced the US sanctions against Paknejad and voiced their support for him as a key figure in the country’s economic resistance efforts. They also emphasized the parliament’s solidarity with the oil industry and the minister.

The US Department of the Treasury announced on Thursday a new round of sanctions targeting Iran’s oil industry. Paknejad was included in the latest sanctions list due to his extensive efforts to facilitate oil sales.
