Arvandan Oil & Gas Company announces solar power plant construction in West Karoun

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of Arvandan Oil & Gas Company revealed plans to build solar power plants in West Karoun, with capacities of 20 and 15 megawatts.

Abdollah Ozari-Ahvazi made the announcement during a specialized meeting titled "Increasing Knowledge-Based Oil and Gas Production" at the Third Petrotech conference on Sunday.

Ozari-Ahvazi highlighted that West Karoun is a significant oil-producing region in the country.

He noted that the Azadegan field project was designed in two phases and has now reached the implementation stage. In the development plan for the Darkhoveyn field, a gas injection plant has been established, injecting approximately 250 to 270 million cubic feet of gas daily. The current recovery factor from this reservoir is about 25 to 26%.

However, the rate decreases further from the gas injection center in the Azadegan reservoir, underscoring the importance of gas injection in reservoirs. He emphasized the need to address pressure decline and implement proper planning.

The CEO also discussed the use of advanced technologies in oil extraction and reservoir management. He mentioned plans to equip around 30 wells in North Azadegan with downhole pumps, with similar initiatives planned for South Azadegan to enhance production and recovery rates. Numerous projects are underway across various sectors, supported by significant investments and multiple agreements.

Ozari-Ahvazi added that Arvandan Oil & Gas Company's center for feasibility studies on smart and digital technologies will be operational before the end of the year.

Discussions on artificial gas lift systems and FG systems are ongoing, with collaborative efforts to explore these technologies.

He stressed that the company's field development plans focus on increasing production and utilizing existing capacities, with an emphasis on oil processing in future IPC contracts. A $50 million investment project in ultra-heavy crude oil in West Karun, in collaboration with the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, is also underway to produce high-value products.

The CEO reiterated that numerous projects aimed at boosting efficiency and developing new technologies in the oil industry are in progress. In addition to the solar power plants in West Karoun, an $80 million refinery construction project in the Arvand field is being pursued.
