Over 660m liters of power plant fuel delivered in one week

SHANA (Tehran) – Recent statistics show that during the past week (Feb. 22-28), amid an unprecedented drop in temperatures across the country, a record-breaking 660.236 million liters of liquid fuel for power plants were delivered. This marks an increase of approximately 44% compared to the same period last year.

The continuous supply of diesel and mazut to power plants became a critical focus as a severe cold wave hit the country last week. Despite heavy snowfall and low temperatures severely disrupting fuel transportation, the Ministry of Oil implemented special measures and precise coordination to ensure timely fuel delivery to power plants.

This effort guaranteed stable energy supply across various levels during the critical conditions. Below is a brief overview of the fuel delivery figures from the past week.

On Saturday (Feb. 22), 84 million liters of liquid fuel (diesel and mazut) were delivered, representing a 39% increase compared to the same day last year, when 60.33 million liters were supplied.

On Sunday (Feb. 23), 113 million liters were delivered, a surge of over 205% compared to the approximately 37 million liters delivered on the same day last year.

According to the latest data from SHANA, on Monday (Feb. 24), 84 million liters of power plant fuel were delivered, a 47% increase compared to the 57.238 million liters supplied during the same period last year.

On Tuesday (Feb. 25), 110 million liters of liquid fuel were delivered to power plants, reflecting a 64% increase compared to the 67.185 million liters delivered in the same period last year.

On Wednesday (Feb. 26) and Thursday (9th of Esfand), 89 million and 104 million liters of liquid fuel were delivered to power plants, respectively, showing increases of approximately 53% and 24% compared to the same days last year.

The latest figures indicate that on Friday (Feb. 28), 76.236 million liters of liquid fuel were delivered, compared to 96.196 million liters on the same day last year.

In total, during the past week (Feb. 22-28), amid the unprecedented drop in temperatures and a record-breaking performance in the refining industry, 660.236 million liters of liquid fuel for power plants were delivered. This represents a 44% increase compared to the same period last year, when 459.841 million liters were delivered.
