Over 2,500 tons of gas odorant produced in South Pars

SHANA (Tehran) – The manager of the first refinery at the South Pars Gas Complex announced the production of more than 2,500 tons of gas odorant from 2018 to the present.

Ali Ahmadi stated that the gas odorant production unit at this refinery is the only active unit in the country and the Middle East, and one of the few such units in the world.

He noted that the unit, relying on the innovative expertise of domestic specialists, has been operational since August 2018.

Ahmadi highlighted that since the unit’s launch, over 2,500 tons of gas odorant have been produced and delivered to provincial gas companies. He emphasized that the round-the-clock efforts of the complex’s experts have not only met domestic demand but also broken the foreign monopoly on the production of this strategic material, preventing significant foreign currency outflows from the country.

The manager of the first refinery at the South Pars Gas Complex added that from the beginning of this year (March 20, 2024) until the end of Dey (January 19), more than 300 tons of natural gas odorant have been produced and delivered to provincial gas companies.

Ahmadi also outlined some of the most important ongoing initiatives, including the redesign of reactor trays, the design and construction of preheater exchangers for the regeneration tower, the installation of a new drumming system, addressing software and hardware issues in the drumming package, improving the ventilation system, and constructing a storage shed for product drums.

He noted that these achievements by the complex’s specialists have enhanced stability and maximized gas odorant production.
