Behnam Mirzaei stated that the Ahvaz-Kuhdasht gas pipeline project is underway to improve operational flexibility and increase gas transmission capacity in the western and northwestern corridors.
During an inspection of the Ahvaz-Kuhdasht gas pipeline project, Mirzaei noted that this project is one of the key initiatives of the National Iranian Gas Company and must be completed on time to support the country’s energy balance in the coming year.
Prior to the visit, four meetings were held with project managers from the client, consulting, and contracting sectors, followed by inspections of all four project segments to assess strengths and weaknesses.
Mirzaei added that the board of directors made significant decisions during the visit regarding the technical, operational, and financial aspects of the project to accelerate progress across all segments, in line with the directives of the National Iranian Gas Company’s CEO.
Highlighting the benefits of the project, Mirzaei explained that the Ahvaz-Kuhdasht pipeline is part of the ninth national gas pipeline, which is being constructed parallel to the sixth national gas pipeline. The project aims to enhance operational flexibility and boost gas transmission capacity in the western and northwestern regions.
The 56-inch Ahvaz-Kuhdasht pipeline, spanning 400 kilometers, is being implemented in four sections: Ahvaz-Shushtar, Shushtar-Dezful, Dezful-Pol Dokhtar, and Pol Dokhtar-Kuhdasht. Workers in Khuzestan and Lorestan provinces are diligently executing this major gas project to ensure its timely and high-quality completion, which will finalize the western and northwestern gas network ring in Iran.
Mirzaei stressed the importance of increasing gas transmission capacity to the west, stating that the project’s completion will establish multiple connections between the ninth and sixth national gas pipelines in the western region, addressing gas transmission limitations from the southern to the northern parts of the country.
He also highlighted the innovative use of micro-tunneling to cross the Karun River as a groundbreaking achievement in Iran’s gas industry. Mirzaei expressed hope that the success of this method would pave the way for broader adoption of advanced techniques in the country’s gas sector.
