Significant increase in gas supply to power plants

SHANA (Tehran) – Despite a cumulative increase of over 9 billion cubic meters in gas consumption by the residential, commercial, and small industrial sectors from the beginning of Aban (October 22, 2024) to the end of Bahman (February 18) this year compared to the same period last year, gas supply to power plants has risen by more than 200 million cubic meters.

From the start of Aban this year, which was significantly colder than in previous years, daily gas consumption in the residential, commercial, and small industrial sectors increased by 80 million cubic meters.

This rise resulted in a cumulative increase of over 9 billion cubic meters by the end of Bahman compared to the same period last year.

Despite this surge in residential consumption, the Ministry of Oil has managed to deliver 1.7 billion cubic meters more gas to power plants compared to the same cold months in the year 1401 (2022-2023).

Additionally, compared to the year 1402 (2023-2024), which experienced an unusually warm period from Azar (November 21) to Bahman, over 200 million cubic meters more gas has been supplied to power plants.

Amid the current peak consumption in the residential, commercial, and small industrial sectors, the National Iranian Gas Company is delivering 137 million cubic meters of gas daily to power plants.
