Deputy CIT minister highlights NIGC's path to becoming a smart body

SHANA (Tehran) – The Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology emphasized that the Iran National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) has taken steps toward becoming a smart organization, expressing confidence that effective solutions to imbalance challenges will be found through collaboration and interaction.

Mohammad-Mohsen Sadr, speaking at a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement with the NIGC on Monday, stated: "Our goal in implementing this plan is not to own data or for the NIGC to gain benefits for itself. Ultimately, the main employer and beneficiary of the systems created in this sector will be the company, and the Ministry of Energy will also join this effort."

He added, "Our role is solely to coordinate and ensure the stability of systems, technical aspects, data, and information integration. With these efforts, I am confident that positive outcomes will emerge."

The deputy minister expressed his happiness at being present in a company that ensures the warmth of people's homes, saying, "I have witnessed firsthand the efforts and hardships you and your colleagues at the gas company endure to keep people's homes warm. On behalf of myself, the Ministry of CIT, and a large part of society, I thank you for your efforts. We are well aware that these services are the result of your round-the-clock work; you and your colleagues in operations strive with all your might to provide this vital service, and we appreciate these efforts."

Sadr praised the wisdom and responsibility of the CEO of the Iran National Gas Company, calling it highly valuable and exemplary. He said, "You and the gas company team are seriously pursuing fundamental work for the country and its people, and this is commendable. We all hold temporary responsibilities, but if we can do the right and lasting work, its results will remain in the country for years to come."

He noted that the reality is that the country lacks data governance and data oversight, emphasizing, "The basis of good governance in developed countries is data governance. First, there must be data oversight, and then development can be achieved. In fact, if other sectors think like the gas company, some problems can be solved through cooperation."

The official described the signing of this agreement as the beginning of a good story and event, stating, "Having oversight of data clarifies our responsibilities to the people and informs them that they own part of these assets. If there is gas in this country, it belongs to them, and the authority lies with them. Then, people can make informed decisions about whether to consume, conserve, or offer this volume of gas in the market, and this is the beginning of a blessed event."

In conclusion, Sadr addressed the CEO of the NIGC, saying, "With your help and support, and given the agreement we have, we must proceed according to the schedule in the coming months and deliver appropriate outputs. By providing these reports, we will integrate data across government agencies and then share this information with you. Our reports must align with operational performance so that we can achieve accurate data integration."
