Gov’t spokesperson: Diesel delivery to power plants increases

SHANA (Tehran) – The government spokesperson announced that diesel delivery to power plants has risen to 52 million liters per day in the current month of Bahman, marking an increase of 17 million liters compared to the same period last year.

Fatemeh Mohajerani, in a discussion regarding the electricity imbalance, explained that the Ministry of Oil is responsible for supplying fuel to power plants, while the Ministry of Energy oversees electricity production at these facilities.

She noted that, according to statistics released by the oil minister, gasoline production has increased by 8 million liters and diesel production by approximately 9 million liters under the current administration.

Mohajerani emphasized that power plants manage their fuel mix, which includes liquid gas and fuel oil.

However, due to the high consumption of gas for residential heating in many regions of the country, an imbalance has occurred, leading to undesirable outcomes such as power outages. "We are not at all pleased with this situation," she stated.

The government spokesperson expressed hope that the energy imbalance will decrease in the coming year.

She added that the government has plans to utilize solar energy capacity and prioritize avoiding power cuts to industrial sectors.

"This is one of the key issues the president has emphasized, as we believe industrial electricity should not be interrupted, given its critical role in the economy and domestic production," Mohajerani said.
