Saeid Tavakoli, stated that the increased reliability of the network in the Iranian year of 1403 (started March 20, 2024) led to new records in gas transmission across the country.
Tavakoli, speaking to reporters on Saturday on the sidelines of the oil minister’s visit to the Parchin Gas Pressure Boosting Station, noted that there are 94 gas pressure boosting stations nationwide.
Currently, nearly 70 of these stations, equipped with 348 turbo compressors and pressure-increasing units, are operating at peak capacity. The Parchin station, through its pressure-boosting and gas transmission processes, ensures a stable and reliable gas supply to the northeast of the country.
Tavakoli pointed out that this year’s natural gas production reached a record of 880 million cubic meters per day. Of this amount, 600 million cubic meters, or 70%, are supplied from refineries in the south of the country and South Pars, with the remainder produced at other refineries nationwide.
The deputy oil minister for gas affairs emphasized that production alone is not the sole focus, stating that a robust gas transmission network is one of the most critical factors for stability in the global gas industry. Iran boasts nearly 40,222 kilometers of high-pressure gas transmission pipelines, 94 pressure-boosting stations, and numerous intermediate stations, all of which ensure gas reaches urban hubs and major consumers.
Tavakoli described the country’s gas transmission network as a vital link in the energy supply chain, noting that the stability of this network is of utmost importance. Even with high production levels, an unstable transmission network would fail to meet consumer needs.
He added that this year, the gas transmission network achieved new reliability records, successfully delivering all 880 million cubic meters of produced gas without issues.
These accomplishments, he said, are the result of relentless efforts by experts at the National Iranian Gas Company and the Iranian Gas Transmission Company, who have maintained the network’s stability at a high level. Tavakoli expressed his gratitude to all colleagues for their dedication and hard work.
