Stable gas distribution managed with public cooperation

SHANA (Tehran) – The director general of public relations at the Ministry of Oil highlighted a 4.5% decrease in average temperatures and an early onset of cold weather this year compared to previous years.

Majid Boujarzadeh stated that stable gas distribution was successfully managed during three peak winter periods, thanks to the public's cooperation in optimizing consumption.

The official, during a live television program, detailed the latest gas consumption situation in the country. He noted that the conscientious citizens of the province have contributed significantly, managing a daily share of 3 million cubic meters (mcm) in gas consumption nationwide.

Boujarzadeh explained the issue of natural gas imbalance in the country, stating that gas processing at the nation's refineries amounts to approximately 1 billion cubic meters per day. However, considering the consumption by residential and industrial sectors, there is a shortfall of 300 mcm.

The director general emphasized that through special measures, including the updating and use of standard equipment such as hermetic heaters and the optimization of boiler rooms and buildings, along with collective efforts in consumption management, this issue should be resolved.

Boujarzadeh stressed the importance of optimal gas consumption in the residential sector, noting that reducing the ambient temperature by 2 degrees can decrease gas consumption by 12%. This percentage, in the case of East Azerbaijan Province, equates to the daily gas consumption of power plants and the cement sector.

He underscored that gas consumption is interconnected, and by managing consumption in the residential sector, it is possible to reduce restrictions in the industrial sector, thereby contributing to sustainable development and maintaining clean air.
