NIGC says %75 of gas consumption goes to households amid cold weather

SHANA (Tehran) – On Tuesday, 651 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas, accounting for 74% of total production, was consumed by households, commercial sectors, and small industries due to persistent cold weather, according to the National Iranian Gas Company.

Hassan Mousavi, the company’s spokesperson, reported that 874 mcm of natural gas were delivered to the national grid on Tuesday, with 651 mcm allocated to households, commercial sectors, and small industries. Mousavi noted that gas consumption in these sectors increased by 20% compared to the same day last year.

Following the drop in temperatures and forecasts of further cooling, President Masoud Pezeshkian, Oil Minister Javad Owji, and other officials urged the public to participate in the "2 Degrees Less" campaign. Through video and written messages, they called for optimal energy use and cooperation in ensuring sufficient fuel supplies for the winter season.
