SPGC delivered 157 bcm of gas to national grid in eight months

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of the South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC) announced that over 157.3 billion cubic meters of gas have been supplied to the national grid from the complex’s refineries during the first eight months of the current Iranian year.

Gholamabbas Hosseini also emphasized the need for consumption management and urged citizens to join the "2 Degrees Less" campaign, aimed at reducing energy use.

Hosseini stated that in the eight months to November 20, 2024, more than 157 billion cubic meters of gas have been delivered to the national grid which represents a 2% increase in gas injection into the main pipelines compared to the same period last year.

Hosseini highlighted that gas accounts for 75% of the country’s energy mix, with 70% of it produced at the SPGC.

The complex’s daily gas production stands at 582 million cubic meters, which has risen to 591 million standard cubic meters due to colder weather and increased domestic consumption.

Support for domestic manufacturers key to SPGC progress

The CEO stressed the importance of localizing technologies and expanding comprehensive cooperation with domestic manufacturers, new technology-based firms (NTBFs), and first-time producers to strengthen sustainable gas and byproduct production at the SPGC, the country’s largest gas production hub.

Hosseini pointed out that the development of domestic technologies and the local production of refinery equipment are among the SPGC’s significant achievements in recent years.

He added that the complex’s experts and staff have localized the production of 11,589 strategic equipment items, which are now used across its 13 refineries.
