He said this temperature shift led to an 80 million cubic meter (mcm) increase in gas consumption across residential, commercial, and small industrial sectors.
Koushki explained that on Saturday, with the onset of a cold front from the west, gas consumption in the residential, commercial, and small industrial sectors rose to 613 mcm.
He continued, saying that with the cold weather expected to persist through the end of the week, gas consumption is forecast to exceed 650 million cubic meters, with a potential record of 660 mcm in these sectors.
Koushki pointed out that last year, during the first week of Dey, gas consumption in these sectors was 527 mcm, while this year it has risen to 607 mcm per day during the same period.
He again emphasized the importance of managing gas consumption by all institutions and citizens.
The official added that the round-the-clock efforts of colleagues in production, upstream, and refinery sectors have not only ensured the stability of the gas network but also set records in production, processing, and transmission.
Koushki urged all citizens to follow consumption guidelines and participate in the “2 Degrees Less” campaign for home and workplace temperatures.
He stressed that this would help maintain the gas network's stability during these cold days and prevent any gas pressure drops or outages across the country.
