Hassan Mousavi noted that a new record for gas consumption in these sectors was set on Monday, December 16, 2024. Of the 858 million cubic meters of sweet gas injected into the national grid that day, 671 million cubic meters were used in residential, commercial, and small industrial sectors.
He added that 78% of the total sweet gas produced was consumed in these sectors, marking a 27% increase compared to the same day last year.
Following the drop in temperatures and forecasts of further cold weather, President Massoud Pezeshkian, Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, and several other officials urged citizens to join the “2 Degrees Less” campaign through video or written messages, promoting efficient energy use and ensuring sufficient winter fuel supplies.
