Residential gas consumption surpasses 600 mcm

SHANA (Tehran) – The spokesperson for the National Iranian Gas Company announced that residential, commercial, and small-scale industrial gas consumption has reached 601 million cubic meters.

Hassan Mousavi stated that approximately 850 million cubic meters of sweet gas were injected into the national gas network on Saturday.

Of this amount, 601 million cubic meters—accounting for 71% of the total gas delivered—were consumed in the residential, commercial, and small-scale industrial sectors.

Mousavi noted that gas consumption in these sectors has increased by 17% compared to the same period last year.

Also, on Saturday, Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, during a visit to the Dispatching Center of the NIGC, emphasized that all gas refineries are operating at full capacity to process raw gas received from the upstream oil industry.

He added that all major pipelines and compression stations are fully operational.

"As temperatures drop, residential gas consumption rises, forcing us to impose restrictions on gas supply to other sectors to prioritize household needs," Paknejad explained.

He also stressed the importance of reducing heating system temperatures by at least 2 degrees Celsius, which can help ensure gas delivery to the extremities of the network. "Public cooperation in this regard will play a decisive role in getting through winter without disruptions," he added.
