Lawmaker says conserving gas is a national duty

SHANA (Tehran) - A member of Iran’s Parliament Energy Committee said that conserving electricity and gas is a national responsibility, urging citizens to help address the energy imbalance through efficient consumption.

Reza Sepahvand highlighted the "Two Degrees Less" campaign, which promotes lowering heating systems by two degrees.

He stated that this initiative would undoubtedly strengthen the gas network’s stability, ensuring everyone can benefit from electricity and gas.

The lawmaker stressed that gas conservation is a critical and serious issue, saying, "Conserving gas is a national duty. By reducing consumption, we can help resolve the energy imbalance and protect national resources."

The MP referred to gas as a national asset, adding, "We are responsible to future generations for how we utilize this resource."

Following the drop in temperatures, President Masoud Pezeshkian, Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, and other national officials released video and messages encouraging public participation in the "Two Degrees Less" campaign to optimize consumption and ensure sufficient winter fuel supplies.
