Daily household gas consumption reaches unprecedented 641 mcm

SHANA (Tehran) - The spokesperson for the National Iranian Gas Company announced a record consumption of 641 million cubic meters of gas in the residential, commercial, and small-scale industrial sectors on Sunday which marks a new high for the current Iranian year (started March 20). 

On Monday, Seyed Hassan Mousavi told Shan that 857 million cubic meters of sweet gas were delivered to the national grid on Sunday, of this figure, 641 million cubic meters—75% of the total gas injected into the network—were consumed by the residential, commercial, and small-scale industrial sectors, setting a new record for the current Iranian year.  

Mousavi noted that gas consumption in these sectors increased by 18% compared to the same period last year.  

Following a drop in temperatures and forecasts for colder weather, President Masoud Pezeshkian, Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, and other officials issued video and written messages encouraging citizens to join the “2 Degrees Less” campaign to promote energy efficiency and ensure adequate winter fuel supplies.
