Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan Stress Enhanced Gas Cooperation

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The oil and energy ministers of Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan discussed gas cooperation on the sidelines of the meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).

During a trilateral meeting between Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji, Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov and Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, various proposals for cooperation in various energy sectors were presented and it was decided to review these proposals in an expert manner.

During the tripartite meeting, the agreements and memorandums signed between Iran and Russia during the visit of President Seyed Ibrahim Raisi to Moscow were also discussed and their implementation was reviewed.

During a two-day visit to Moscow in January, Iran and Russia signed several agreements in the fields of development of oil and gas fields, oil refineries and technology transfer.

The 6th summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum was held on Tuesday in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The GECF Members account for 44% of world gas production, 67% of world gas reserves, 64% of pipeline gas transmission and 66% of liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade.
