Iran Boosts Petchem Output by 21.5 mt in 1399

TEHRAN (Shana) – Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said the country had enhanced its petrochemical production capacity BY 21.5 million tons per year during the calendar year of 1399 which ended on March 20.

Addressing a virtual ceremony to launch a number of petrochemical projects on Thursday, he said: “We had committed ourselves to bolster the industry’s output by 25 mt/y during the year of whoch 21.5 mt/y has so far been realized thanks to the diligence and round-the-clock efforts of those involved in the projects.

He said the second leap of petrochemical industry is taking its last steps firmly and the third leap is taking place with power and its plans are being implemented.

"According to the plan, by adding three super projects to the plans of the third leap, the value of petrochemical products will increase from $34 billion by [the calendar year of] 1404 (2025) to $40 billion by 1406 (2027),” Mr. Zangeneh went on to add.

The Minister of Petroleum emphasized that the feedstock of all petrochemical super-projects has been determined and their investors have been designated and their work will begin under Rouhani administration, adding: "With the help of God Almighty, we have not only completed the second leap projects and completed most of them, but we have laid a solid foundation for the next administration.”
