According to NIGC, Gholamreza Mashayekhi said currently, 245 million cubic meters of gas was being delivered daily to the country's power plants and by the fall of this year, 95% of urban and rural population would benefit from the blessings of natural gas.

He said in the first 4 months of the current calendar year, 1,000 villages and 11 cities were connected to the national gas distribution network, adding the approach of the National Iranian Gas Company is to increase the number of people in the urban and rural areas who benefit from natural gas.

For the time being, 98% of the urban population and 82% of rural households have access to natural gas in Iran, the official went on to add.
