According to the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), the deal was signed with the aim of optimizing energy consumption in the refinery and preventing waste of gas and pollution of the environment.
This is the first such deal being signed between an Iranian gas refinery and a domestic buyer.
Based on the contract, the refinery sells the gas that was previously flared from phase 12 development of the supergiant South Pars Gas Field for a period of two years at IRR 84.8m.
