MP calls for smarter energy use

SHANA (Tehran) - Mousa Ahmadi, chairman of the Parliament’s Energy Committee, said increasing energy efficiency in industrial units is one of the committee’s main priorities, calling on the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade to accelerate plans to modernize production lines and upgrade technology.

Speaking on the occasion of Journalists’ Day, Ahmadi praised journalists for their commitment to truth, professionalism and public awareness, saying they have faithfully reflected realities and served as the voice of the people while highlighting the dignity, strength and resilience of the Iranian nation.
Ahmadi also pointed to efforts by the Energy Commission to strengthen coordination between the Oil and Energy ministries. He said coordination on fuel supplies to power plants has helped ensure stable electricity supplies during the summer and prepare for the colder months, when natural gas and fuel imbalances could otherwise affect household heating and industrial operations.
He reiterated that improving energy efficiency in industry remains a key priority. A significant share of industrial facilities still operates with outdated, energy-intensive equipment, he said, making faster modernization and technological upgrades essential.
Ahmadi said addressing energy imbalances at their root requires continued investment in production, major expansion of renewable energy and full implementation of the legal responsibilities assigned to relevant agencies.
“The Energy Committee will not retreat from its oversight responsibilities” in pursuing those goals, he said.
