South Pars Platform 12B Operational

TEHRAN Dec 08 (Shana)--The first well of Platform 12B of South Pars Phase 12 started operation Saturday evening December 7, 2014, the developer of Phase 12 said.

Hookup, prestart-up and start-up operations of the platform were completed in a record 4-month period and other wells of the platform will come on-stream immediately one after the other to inject gas to the national gas trunklines, announced Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) on Saturday. 

Last week, the flare of Platform 12B was lit in a ceremony attended by Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh.

The third and fifth units of the refinery of Phase 12 are also over, and these units are ready to process sour gas produced in the offshore section of the field.

Platforms 12B and 12C of the gas field will bring gas production from Phase 12 to more than 65 mcm.

Phase 12 is expected to inject 65 mcm/d of sweet gas or 3 bcf/d of sour gas into national gas trunklines.

Phase 12 is the main phase of South Pars which is shared by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf.
