More Refining Capacity in South Pars

TEHRAN Dec 01 (Shana)--The second train of the refinery of Phases 17&18 of South Pars gas field is to become operational by February next year, managing-director of Pars Oil and Gas Company said.

Ali-Akbar Shabanpour said the first train is expected to come on-stream soon with a daily capacity of 10 mcm.

The third and fourth trains are hoped to come online late next year.

Shabanpour said Phases 17&18 of South Pars are forecasted to be producing 12.5 bcm before cold snap, adding that the production will exceed 25 mcm by March.

The flare of Platform 18A has been turned on and the conditions are ripe for supplying gas from this platform to the refineries of phases 15&16. This platform is capable of producing 14 mcm/d of gas.

With the delivery of gas from Platform 18A and the completion of Phase 16 Platform, sweet gas production from phases 15&16 of South Pars will exceed 50 mcm/d.

Phases 17&18 of South Pars are under development to produce 50 mcm/d of natural gas, 80,000 b/d of gas condensate, 400 tons a day of sulfur, 1 million tons a year of ethane and 1.05 million tons a year of liquefied gas.

These phases are being operated by a consortium of Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO), Oil Industries Engineering and Construction Company (OIEC) and Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC).
