According to IRIB News, Keramat Veis-Karami said a cabinet measure introduced to maximize the use of personal smart fuel cards had previously reduced reliance on station-issued cards from 42% to about 25%–26%. However, over the past week to 10 days, the share of transactions made with station cards has climbed back to 42%.
He said the policy was designed to encourage drivers to use their own fuel cards and preserve station-issued emergency cards for motorists who have exhausted their fuel quotas.
Veis-Karami noted that many vehicle owners are using station-issued cards without first using the secondary allocation available on their personal fuel cards, even though their remaining quota is sufficient to meet their needs.
Daily Gasoline Consumption Hits 135m Liters
Veis-Karami said average daily gasoline consumption has climbed to 135 million liters since the beginning of the Iranian month of Tir (June 22), continuing an upward trend.
He added that average daily gasoline consumption since the start of the current Iranian year has been about 128 million liters, which he described as a high level.
With summer travel season underway, Veis-Karami said fuel demand is expected to increase further in the coming weeks. He called on the public to help ensure a stable nationwide fuel supply by managing consumption and using their personal smart fuel cards whenever refueling.
