Iran Gas Output Up 30%

TEHRAN August 19 (Shana)--Iran’s four-month gas production has grown 30 percent year-on-year, a deputy petroleum minister said.

“During the first four months of the current [calendar] year [which started on March 21], our country’s gas production has increased 30 percent from the year before,” Rokneddin Javadi said.
Javadi, who is also managing-director of National Iranian Oil Company, said Iran has stopped importing diesel fuel due to enhanced gas production mainly in the giant offshore South Pars gas field.
Over the four-month period, Iran saved one billion liters of diesel fuel which would have been burnt in power plants and industrial plants.
Javadi said 80 to 100 mcm/d of gas is to be added to South Pars’ output by March 2016.
He said Iran is expected to bring its gas production to 1 bcm/d in three years’ time from now.
