Cleanup at damaged South Pars plants hits 60%

SHANA (Tehran) — Debris removal operations at two damaged gas refineries in the South Pars Gas Field have reached 60% completion following the 40-day conflict, with parts of the facilities now ready to enter the reconstruction phase, according to the head of Pars Oil and Gas Company.

Speaking at a joint meeting with the head of security at the National Iranian Oil Company, CEO Touraj Dehqani said the progress achieved under challenging conditions demonstrates the country's ability to mobilize specialized expertise to restore critical gas infrastructure.

Dehqani said debris removal work has advanced despite difficult environmental conditions, operational risks, strict safety requirements and the presence of unidentified hazards. He noted that employees and contractors were deployed to the affected areas immediately after the attacks.

According to the latest reports, cleanup operations have been completed in three of the main damaged zones, allowing reconstruction activities to begin in those sections as of today.

The company expects debris removal operations to be fully completed within the next month. Dehghani said the scale of the damage and the complexity of the work would normally have required at least six to seven months to complete, but crews have achieved the current level of progress in less than two months.

He described the effort as a notable achievement for Iran’s oil and gas industry and expressed confidence that reconstruction can proceed at a similar pace.

Dehqani said all available resources, technical capabilities and management capacities have been mobilized to compensate for the damage and restore lost production as quickly as possible. He added that cooperation among all relevant organizations will be essential to bringing affected gas production capacity back online.

The executive also stressed the importance of supporting managers and project teams responsible for major national initiatives, saying large-scale recovery efforts require trust, coordination and collective commitment across institutions. He thanked the National Iranian Oil Co.’s security department for its support during the crisis, describing security and volunteer organizations as key contributors to national resilience and energy security.
