Russia offers support for Iran energy rebuild

SHANA (Tehran) – Russia has expressed readiness to help compensate for damages and rebuild Iran’s energy infrastructure following losses incurred during the third imposed war, a senior Iranian energy official said.

According to Iran’s Energy Ministry, Mohammad-Vali Alaeddini, head of the ministry’s Center for International Affairs, said Roman Marshavin, the deputy minister of energy of Russia has announced Moscow’s willingness to cooperate in restoring damaged infrastructure and supporting reconstruction efforts.

Alaeddini said Russia’s technical expertise and the capabilities of its energy and power-sector companies could play a significant role in modernizing damaged facilities and supplying equipment needed for reconstruction.

He added that the proposed cooperation could be pursued within the framework of the Iran-Russia electricity cooperation roadmap, creating opportunities for joint projects and greater use of the two countries’ engineering and technical capacities.

Iran hopes the collaboration will further expand technical and operational ties between the two countries across the water and power sectors, Alaeddini said.
