Tech innovation key to solving energy imbalance

SHANA (Tehran) – A member of the Parliament's Energy Committee said integrating new technology-based firms with the industrial sector is vital to overcoming Iran’s energy deficit.

Mohammad Bahrami told reporters that energy security remains the country’s top priority, emphasizing that resolving current imbalances in electricity and gas supply requires a multi-pronged approach. He cited the need to diversify energy production, modernize distribution networks to reduce losses, and maximize the recovery of associated petroleum gases.

Bahrami called for the creation of a strategic energy optimization organization to unify policy-making and eliminate bureaucratic friction between executive agencies. He noted that such a body would be essential to managing demand, expanding renewable energy, and improving supply chain efficiency—all of which he described as directly linked to national security and public welfare.

"Advancing technological projects and supporting knowledge-based companies in the oil and power sectors are essential to overcoming current obstacles," Bahrami said.

He added that the Energy Committee must prioritize the reconstruction of oil, gas, petrochemical, and power plant infrastructure in regions affected by conflict. Bahrami concluded that the legislative body is seeking maximum synergy with the government to restructure the sector, aiming to transform the energy crisis into an opportunity to boost national production and energy security.
