Oil industry defies sanctions, war

SHANA (Tehran) - Oil minister marked the anniversary of the discovery of oil in Iran and the Middle East, saying the country’s oil industry has remained resilient through 118 years of sanctions and imposed wars, preventing any halt in production and exports.

Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad wrote on his X account that the anniversary of the May 26 oil discovery in Iran and the Middle East marked the beginning of a turbulent era for the industry.
He said Iran’s oil sector has “stood proud amid storms of sanctions and imposed wars” over the past 118 years and has not allowed production or exports to stop.
Paknejad added that the Iranian people, through efficient energy consumption, would thwart what he described as hostile plots by Iran’s enemies.
