According to the company, spokesman Ebrahim Abbasi said the incident occurred Monday during debris removal operations involving remnants left from the Iran-Iraq War in an area designated for a demolition contractor.
Abbasi said the incident happened while crews were conducting safety and cleanup operations in the contractor’s work zone at the sixth refinery. Crisis management teams responded immediately and contained the situation in the shortest possible time.
He added that workers were clearing damaged facilities dating back to the war period when the incident occurred. Emergency response teams and the South Pars region fire department were dispatched to the site immediately and prevented the situation from spreading through rapid safety measures and specialized response efforts.
The report said six contractor employees were injured in the incident. Rescue and medical teams treated three workers at the scene, while the other three were transferred to a hospital in Asaluyeh for further examination and medical care.
