Sustainability of fuel distribution was a standout wartime service

SSHANA (Tehran) – Members of the Parliament’s Agriculture Committee, recalling the favorable performance of the Ministry of Petroleum during the war, said the House of the People would support the reconstruction of oil-industry facilities damaged in that period.

At a meeting on Tuesday, with the managing director and senior executives of the Iran Oil Products Distribution Company (NIORDC), the Committee’s chair and members expressed appreciation for the ministry’s performance during the war and discussed issues related to agricultural fuel, including ways to address challenges in the sector.

Mohammadjavad Askari, chair of the Agriculture Committee, said the Ministry of Petroleum was targeted by US-Zionist attacks during the third phase of the war, and some of its facilities were damaged. He said its committed forces remained on the job so the public would not face fuel shortages.

He then referred to rebuilding oil facilities and said everyone must help restore damaged petroleum infrastructure. He added that the parliament would back the ministry in this effort and said he believes current wartime conditions are not more difficult than the eight-year Sacred Defense period and that damages can be repaired quickly.

Another Committee member Ahad Azadikhah, said the public should be shown the realities of war, one of which was fuel supply. He said that during the third phase of the war, people did not experience problems obtaining fuel—especially gasoline—adding that if a country were subjected to similar attacks, its fuel supply would be severely disrupted. He said the Ministry of Petroleum’s jihad-like efforts provided public reassurance and described the initiative as one of the system’s great achievements.

Alireza Ebrahimi, vice chair of the Committee, said the ministry has given special attention to fuel for agricultural equipment in all circumstances, and it remains committed to ensuring that the country’s food security is not jeopardized. He added that many agricultural wells rely on diesel fuel and that efforts are underway to resolve some of the problems they face.

Abdolghafour Amanzadeh, another Committee member, thanked the Ministry of Petroleum and the National Oil Refining and Distribution Company for the appropriate and targeted fuel distribution during the war. He said agriculture sustains the country’s food security, and therefore should not encounter fuel-related difficulties.

Mohammad Sadat Ebrahimi also said that after the country’s military commanders and soldiers responded decisively to the enemy’s fire, personnel in the oil industry were the second group to shine in the full-scale war. He thanked all of them for their efforts.

At the conclusion of the meeting, some Committee members raised issues regarding the supply of fuel needed for agricultural machinery. It was agreed that the matter would be followed up in cooperation with the Parliament’s Research Center to address key challenges and ensure that no obstacle arises for the country’s food security in the period ahead.
