Fuel supply did not stop during wartime due to efforts by oil industry workers

SHANA (Tehran) – A member of the Parliament’s Economic Committee said that although some of the country’s petrochemical plants and refineries were targeted during the third imposed war, fuel supply continued thanks to the dedication of oil industry workers.

Manouchehr Motaki, speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with the CEO and managers of the National Iranian Oil Company, said the government managed the recent conflict in a way that minimized shortages in the market. He added that despite difficult conditions, significant work was carried out in the oil sector. Staff at petrochemical facilities, refineries, and oil and gas fields continued their work despite wartime threats, ensuring that fuel supply to the public was not disrupted. He noted that their efforts have been recognized in multiple meetings.

Motaki also highlighted the key role of the NIOC in providing a substantial portion of the national budget and subsidies. He said members of the Economic Committee raised specialized questions during their meeting with the company’s CEO and received appropriate answers.

He added that the Oil Ministry should further focus on its international capabilities, noting that there is significant potential for exporting technical and engineering services in the oil sector.

Motaki also referred to what he described as an illegal naval blockade by enemy, emphasizing the need for measures to break it so that export conditions, particularly for oil, can return to normal.
