Iran’s oil industry never shut down, even during wartime: Veep

SHANA (Tehran) – First vice president said the country’s oil industry has never halted operations, even during past wars despite hostile attacks by enemies.

Mohammadreza Aref said unity between the government and the public remains key to overcoming challenges and thwarting adversaries’ plots.

According to fvpresident.ir, Aref held meetings with the ministers of oil, industry, mining and trade, and roads and urban development, as well as the head of the Plan and Budget Organization. He received the latest reports on damages caused by recent attacks and the progress of infrastructure reconstruction, and issued necessary directives to meet public needs.

In a separate meeting with the oil minister, Aref reviewed a report by Mohsen Paknejad on damage to some facilities and measures taken to maintain operations. Expressing confidence in industry workers, he said that during the Iran-Iraq war, Saddam Hussein and his allies inflicted serious damage on the oil sector, but it never ceased operations even for a single day.

Referring to crisis management experience during the 1980–88 war and attacks on Tehran’s fuel reserves, Aref said the country was able to manage conditions in a way that allowed people to continue their daily lives. He added that the same unity between the government and the public would ensure success under current conditions.

Aref emphasized that the government is committed to both defense and reconstruction, saying it will fully compensate for damages and continue building the country while supporting people’s livelihoods.
