NIDC drills 116 oil, gas wells in 11 months

SHANA (Tehran) – The deputy managing director for drilling operations at the National Iranian Drilling Company said 116 oil and gas wells were drilled and completed in the first 11 months of the current year, marking a 23% increase compared with the same period last year.

According to the National Iranian Drilling Co., Masoud Afshar thanked operational staff for their around-the-clock efforts at drilling sites across several provinces. He said establishing performance benchmarks to identify model drilling rigs and fostering healthy competition among employees has helped improve efficiency and productivity.

Afshar said that of the wells completed during the period, 25 were developmental-descriptive wells and 91 were workover wells, which play a significant role in maintaining, sustaining and increasing production.

He added that 95 wells were completed within the operational scope of the National Iranian South Oil Co., eight for the Central Iranian Oil Fields Co., three for the Iranian Offshore Oil Co., four for the Petroleum Engineering and Development Co., and six delivered under completion and handover projects.

Afshar also said 117,483 meters were drilled over the 11-month period, up 12% from a year earlier. He noted that 20 rigs out of the company’s 64 active units are currently being relocated across operational areas.
