New phase of 10% Energy Consumption Reduction Campaign launched

SHANA (Tehran) – The energy optimization director at the National Petrochemical Company announced the launch of a new phase of the national campaign to cut energy consumption by 10% in Mazandaran Province, along with new social and cash incentives to encourage greater public participation.

According to the National Petrochemical Company, Ali Rabani outlined the campaign’s new incentive mechanism during a meeting introducing the implementation plan in Mazandaran. He said two types of rewards have been designated this year to boost public engagement: social rewards dedicated to support initiatives such as providing wheelchairs for those in need or protecting the Hyrcanian forests, and financial or credit rewards that participants can apply toward bill payments or digital services such as internet packages and online ride-hailing.

He added that the reward system is designed to allow customers to electronically submit their account numbers and receive their incentives either as a bill reduction or as a prepayment credit.

Rabani highlighted the environmental aspects of the program, noting that one of this year’s priorities is combating invasive species in the Hyrcanian forests, which threaten forest cover. He said the company is cooperating with NGOs to equip environmental teams and launch cleanup operations.

Rabani said that if the campaign meets its operational targets, significant funds are expected to be generated for improvement projects and reward distribution — a figure that shows notable projected growth compared with last year’s results.

He added that media education packages, targeted public outreach and simplified reward access are among the campaign’s key measures to increase household participation in improving consumption patterns.
