US imposes new sanctions on Iranian oil network

SHANA (Tehran) – The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on a network of front companies and shipping intermediaries accused of facilitating Iran’s oil sales, in what it described as an effort to curb Tehran’s oil revenue.

The department announced Wednesday that the targeted entities helped move and sell Iranian crude. Officials said the move is intended to reduce Iran’s income from oil and increase pressure on the government.

The Treasury Department previously sanctioned Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad and several senior Oil Ministry officials as part of wider measures against Iran’s energy sector.

Analysts say the latest action marks the toughest US sanctions on Iran’s oil industry so far in 2025.
