Parsa stated that the second polyethylene terephthalate plant of Tondgouyan Petrochemical Complex has also progressed 90.73 percent and pre-commissioning is being carried out concurrent with installation of equipment. “Pure terephthalic acid plant will provide feedstock for polyethylene terephthalate plant, but since the two plants will be inaugurated on different dates, the whole pure terephthalic acid product will be exported due to suitable market in Asian countries,” he said. Parsa stated that PET/PTA plan of the complex has overall progressed 95.23 percent and is projected to become fully operational within the next 3 months, Tondgouyan Petrochemical Complex includes two phases, which will produce 800,000 tons polyethylene terephthalate when in full swing, earning the country 800 million dollars a year.
