The president made the remark in a message to the Iranian people on Tuesday after a ceasefire came into force, ending 12 days of an imposed war of aggression against Iran.

He appreciated the Iranian people for their unity and resilience, calling on them to strive to maintain the consensus and cohesion that has been created.

The following is the full text of President Pezeshkian’s message:

In the name of God, the most merciful, the most compassionate

Greetings to the pure souls of the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, and the martyrs of dear Iran

And wishing health and long life for the Supreme Leader

Dear compatriots; dear and proud people of Iran!

Today, after your brave and historic resilience, we witness a ceasefire and the end of the 12-day war imposed on the Iranian nation by the adventurism of the Zionist regime. During this time, the world witnessed the power of great Iran, supported by its people, and while the instigator of this imposed war was the terrorist enemy, its end was determined by the will and power of the great Iranian nation.

The beginning of this terrorist aggression, under false and repetitive pretexts, coincided with the diplomatic efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran to remove any misunderstandings in public opinion through participation in negotiations, at a time when the world clearly witnessed coherent positions and coordinated decisions in Iran, and contradictory behaviors and positions from the other side. History will not forget the treachery and violation of commitments by the enemies of dear Iran, who resorted to aggression and attack during negotiations.

Today, the aggressive enemy agreed to stop its warmongering after it faced a severe and historic punishment. Although the loss of lives among our dear compatriots, women and children, scientists, and brave military commanders, as well as damage to some infrastructures, is a significant harm to our homeland, the losses suffered by the aggressive enemy, despite severe media censorship, have been beyond imagination. The aggressive enemy failed to achieve its nefarious goals of destroying nuclear facilities and undermining nuclear knowledge, as well as inciting social unrest. In contrast, the collapse of the false invincibility of the Zionist regime and its allies, along with the extensive destruction of important facilities and centers in the occupied territories, sent a key message to the world that the cost of adventurism against great Iran is exceedingly heavy.

Great Iranian nation!

We are indebted to your steadfastness and resistance, and we firmly believe that this victory is due to the unity, calm, and cohesion that manifested during this time. We must strive to maintain this valuable consensus and cohesion, which is the greatest asset of the country. All the credit for this historic victory belongs to the great nation and civilization builders, who, if the treacherous enemy had paid better attention to the past and its identity, would never have committed such a blunder. Together, starting today, we are working for a better tomorrow, a brighter future, and a stronger Iran.

Here, as a servant of the Iranian people, I express my gratitude and appreciation to the dear people, especially to the brave men of the Armed Forces, including the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, the Police, the proud Basij Volunteer Force, the Ministry of Intelligence, the Ministry of Defense, firefighters, the Red Crescent, the healthcare staff, traders, especially in the service sector, the media staff, artists, athletes, as well as political and civil activists who played their lasting role during this significant historical moment. All government bodies, ministries, and revolutionary institutions will focus all their efforts on reconstruction and compensating for the harms caused to people, and they will pursue the normalization of all ongoing affairs across the country through identifying strengths and weaknesses in this trial that has passed, while emphasizing comprehensive vigilance and maintaining readiness.

I also announce to neighboring and regional countries that we deeply believe in coexistence and stability, and the power and defensive capabilities of Islamic Iran have always served peace and friendship among Muslim brothers and historical neighbors, and the wisdom and prudence of all of us will thwart the ill-wishing of enemies who seek to create discord and division among us.
