OPEC extends condolences over Zionist regime aggression on Iran

SHANA (Tehran) – The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has extends condolences over the recent aggression by the Zionist regime against Iran, a key member of the oil-producing bloc, in a formal letter addressed to Iranian officials.

In the letter dated June 13, 2025, OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais expressed "profound concern" over the attacks and extended condolences to the Iranian government and people. The full text of the letter is as follows:

Excellency, 

It is with profound concern that I am monitoring the unfortunate news about the recent aggression against our esteemed Member Country, the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

On behalf of the staff of the Secretariat of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and myself personally, I am writing to express our solidarity with you, the government and the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

At this challenging time, we convey our condolences on the tragic loss of lives and our sadness at the destruction caused. Our prayers and most heartfelt sympathies go out to Your Excellency, to the Government of our Member Country the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the families and friends of all those who lost their lives or who have been injured, and to all impacted by this horrible act of aggression.
