West Karun oil fields eyed for 1 mbd production

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) emphasized the need to strengthen the Arvandan Oil and Gas Company to achieve the goal of producing 1 million barrels of oil per day from the West Karun fields.

According to a report from Arvandan Oil and Gas Company, Hamid Bovard, during a meeting on Wednesday with the company’s CEO and managers, stressed the importance of enhancing Arvandan Oil and Gas Company to meet the 1-million-barrel production target from the West Karun fields. He stated, "This company has experienced personnel who can achieve developmental goals. To build capacity and strengthen the company, we must act with patience and careful planning."

Bovard added that alongside oil facility development, the model for developing surrounding areas must also change. He highlighted the need to address environmental issues and social responsibilities while empowering local communities. "By creating jobs, progress and development in the company’s surrounding areas will also be achieved," he said.

The deputy oil minister emphasized leveraging the expertise of experienced professionals to resolve regional challenges, stating, "We view all organizations equally, and developmental responsibilities have been planned for delegation to Arvandan Oil and Gas Company."

Bovard also acknowledged the managerial strengths of Hamid Deris, the current CEO of Arvandan Oil and Gas Company, and expressed gratitude for the efforts of Abdollah Azari-Ahvazi, the former CEO, during his tenure and his contributions to production.

Need to develop Arvandan’s structure

Hamid Deris, CEO of Arvandan Oil and Gas Company, noted the company’s developmental nature alongside its operational responsibilities, stating, "Field development activities cannot be separated from production and operations. More developmental opportunities should be given to Arvandan Oil and Gas Company based on its nature."

He stressed the need to assign operations in other West Karun areas to Arvandan, adding, "The company’s structure requires development and enhancement so we can utilize more specialized personnel and experienced managers."

During the meeting, Deris outlined plans to boost production at Arvandan Oil and Gas Company.

Planning for an 80,000-barrel increase in oil production

Farokh Alikhani, NIOC’s production supervision manager, announced that the company’s production targets for this year have been approved. He said, "New production increase plans, exceeding previous forecasts, are scheduled by the end of 1404.”

Alikhani noted that by late Khordad (June), an 80,000-barrel increase in oil production has been set as a target, with Arvandan Oil and Gas Company accounting for 20,000 barrels of that amount.
