Paving way needed for private sector in oil industry

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of Iran’s Supreme Audit Court said government and quasi-government entities must create space for private sector activity in the oil industry.

Ahmadreza Dastgheib made the remarks Sunday while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a visit to the 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining & Petrochemical Exhibition (Iran Oil Show 2025).

He stated that state-owned and quasi-state companies should facilitate private sector involvement in the oil industry.

He added that opening the sector to private investment would undoubtedly boost capital flow into the industry.

The 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining & Petrochemical Exhibition (Iran Oil Show 2025) runs for four days starting May 8 at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds. Visitors can attend the event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This year’s exhibition carries the key theme “Investment in the Oil Industry Ensures Economic Growth and Development,” reflecting the strategic priorities of the sector. Accordingly, the event focuses on showcasing investment opportunities, new technologies, domestic companies’ capabilities, and partnerships with foreign investors.

The exhibition features 2,200 domestic and foreign companies. High demand led to the addition of five new halls, expanding the total exhibition space to over 40,000 square meters.
