Hassan Abbaszadeh said during a press conference at the 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining & Petrochemical Exhibition (Iran Oil Show 2025) that the industry’s current capacity stands at about 97 million tons. Last year, approximately 42 million tons of final petrochemical products—excluding feedstock—worth $24 billion were produced, with 29 million tons ($13b) exported and 13 million tons ($11B) sold domestically.
Outlining plans for 1404, Abbaszadeh added that the 15 new projects, with a total investment of $6 billion, will add about 8 million tons to production capacity.
He noted that only one of the projects relies on gas feedstock, while three new products will enter the petrochemical market this year. By year-end, industry capacity is expected to reach around 106 million tons, with actual production estimated at 83 million tons.
