Saeid Tavakoli, speaking on the sidelines of the first day of the 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining & Petrochemical Exhibition (Iran Oil Show 2025), met Ylyas Gayypov, Turkmenistan’s ambassador to Iran.
He noted the emphasis by Iran’s president and oil minister on effective communication and expanded cooperation with neighboring countries, stating: "All of this indicates that we aim to reach long-term agreements and favorable outcomes through further dialogue and engagement. We hope to see a strong and friendly long-term relationship with Turkmenistan and to make good use of past experiences in this field."
Tavakoli added that expanding gas relations with Turkmenistan could lead to broader cooperation in other areas, saying: "The gas cooperation between the two countries will lay the groundwork for regional gas trade, which we hope will continue."
The deputy oil minister for gas affairs emphasized: "Fortunately, swap discussions are also underway, and we are prepared to receive this clean energy at the Sarakhs border point."
