Iran, Russia stress strengthening oil, gas cooperation

SHANA (Moscow) – Iran’s deputy minister of international affairs and commerce and Russia’s deputy energy minister emphasized bolstering bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector during a meeting.

Ali-Mohammad Mousavi and Roman Mashavin met Wednesday on the sidelines of the first day of expert talks at the 18th session of the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission. They discussed avenues for bilateral collaboration. 

Mousavi also met with Alexey Kulapin, director-general of the Russian Energy Agency, to coordinate and review meetings of the 18th economic cooperation commission and finalize partnership agreements. 

Expert meetings of the 18th Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission began Wednesday morning in Moscow at the Russian Energy Agency. Specialized working groups from both countries convened to explore bilateral cooperation opportunities. 

Following two days of discussions, the expert committees will prepare multiple cooperation documents for signing by Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad and Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilyov, who co-chair the joint commission. 

The final session for signing the agreements will be held Friday at the President Hotel of Moscow, with both ministers in attendance.
