Jalali discussed the 18th meeting of the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, noting that preparations for the session were made in a positive and constructive atmosphere. He stated that this meeting marks the first since the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty by Russian President Vladimir Putin and its ratification by the State Duma, elevating bilateral relations to a strategic level.
Jalali emphasized that negotiations at the 18th economic commission meeting should be pursued strategically and comprehensively. He added that major projects between Iran and Russia, particularly the North-South Transport Corridor, should be expedited.
The ambassador also highlighted the Russia-Iran energy transit project as another key initiative and expressed hope that cooperation in banking, nuclear energy, trade and transportation would yield positive outcomes during the commission’s meeting.
Expert-level sessions of the 18th Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission began Wednesday morning in Moscow at the Russian Energy Agency.
Following discussions on the second day (Thursday), expert delegations will prepare multiple cooperation documents for signing by Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad and Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilyov, who co-chair the joint commission.
The final session for signing agreements across various sectors will be held Friday at the President Hotel, attended by the Iranian oil minister and the Russian energy minister.
